| Tamala Jones was born on November 12, 1974 in Pasadena, California. She began her career as a model in magazine ads and TV commercials. She also appeared in several music videos. Her film debut came in 1995, playing the great-grandmother of Maya Angelou's character in How to Make an American Quilt. In 2004, she co-produced the independent film Nora's Hair Salon. |
Tamala was voted one of "The 10 Sexiest Women of the Year" in 2000 and 2001 by Black Men Magazine. She is very involved in Girl Prep, a Young Women’s Empowerment Network event created in 2007 by Jenesis A. Harper (age 13), to empower girls to become positive and productive citizens in their community.
