LITERARY AND OTHER REFERENCES
  • Funny Face is a 1957 romantic musical starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. It deals with a quiet book shop owner and her desire to get to Paris to attend a philosophy lecture at any cost.
  • Often incorrectly attributed to Shakespeare, “hell hath no fury” is a phrase from the William Congreve play The Mourning Bridge. It's also used as the title of a season 1 episode of Castle.
  • The Bachelor is an ABC reality TV show dealing with a single man dating and choosing a wife from a group of women. It has spawned several spin offs, including The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad.
  • Homeland is an award winning drama television series that follows a CIA agent trying to investigate a Marine that they believe poses a threat to American safety after being held by al-Qaeda in Iraq. Bonus: it co-stars Nathan Fillion's Firefly costar, Morena Baccarin.
  • Strangers on a Train was first a novel by Patricia Highsmith, but was later made into a thriller film by Alfred Hitchcock. It explores the idea of trying to commit the perfect murder - by exchanging targets so it seems there is no motive and allows for alibis. It's also used as the basis for the murder case in "The Double Down" in season 2.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

QUOTABLE QUOTES

  • Kate and Meredith returning from dinner and tormenting Castle with the probability that they exchanged embarrassing stories about him.
  • --
  • BECKETT: Oh, you're right - he does lean to the left.
MEREDITH: Told you. Only when he's stressed.

  • MEREDITH: You know, being married to Richard was great. Full of romance and excitement. Like a deliciously sweet soufflé... It wasn’t enough for me. I mean, soufflés are wonderful. But sooner or later, they always fall.
JUST THE FACTS
Go here to discuss the spec
  • When he pulled all-nighters writing, Meredith used to put nutmeg in his coffee for an extra kick. Apparently he still enjoys it.
  • Meredith and Castle divorced 15 years ago, so around the time Alexis was 3.
  • Meredith's version of why she and Castle didn't work was that he knew everything there was to know about her, but didn't really open up when she asked questions and she felt like she needed more from him.
OOPS
  • While the Four Seasons does have a classification of suites named "the Ambassador Suite", they don't have them in their New York hotel.
