LITERARY AND OTHER REFERENCES
  • It's A Wonderful Life is an American film which tends to be shown on TV frequently during the Christmas season; it stars Jimmy Stewart as a man who doesn't see why he should live through Christmas until an errant angel shows him a world where he never existed.
  • Castle identifies "Thomas Tillage" as a legendary clockmaker from the Restoration period, but if there was a Thomas Tillage who made clocks during that period, he can't be found in the mainstream horology literature. Castle might be referring to Thomas Tompion, who was indeed a renowned clockmaker who lived from around 1639 to 1713.
