  • CASTLE: You like John Woo?
    BECKETT: The bloodier the better.
CASTLE: You wouldn't want to join me, would you?
    BECKETT: Actually, I would.
  • BECKETT: I wake up sometimes and I think to myself, 'how the hell am I still alive?'
  • CASTLE: Hey, you're not in this alone. I'm here.
BECKETT: (taking his hand) I know.
  • ESPOSITO: DNA confirms that the man who shot Orlando Costas in that alley is the same man who put a bullet in your heart.
  • MR. SMITH: I can't control the situation if you can't control her.
  • CASTLE: Every morning I- I bring you a cup of coffee just so that I can see a smile on your face because I think you are the most remarkable, maddening, challenging, frustrating person I have ever met. And I love you Kate, and if that means anything to you, if you care about me at all, just don’t do this.
  • CASTLE: Beckett, what do you want?
    BECKETT: You.
  • BECKETT: He got away and I didn’t care. I almost died and all I could think about was you. I just want you.
Go here to discuss the spec
  • Montgomery lived at 299 First Avenue. His family still lives there.
  • Unsurprisingly, Alexis is valedictorian of her graduating class.
  • NYC public school graduations are usually held on Saturday, at the end of June. Assuming that 'Marlowe Prep' follows a similar calendar, Alexis' graduation probably took place on June 30, 2012, so that would be the date Beckett and Castle got together (see 5x05 for further evidence).
  • Johanna Beckett was born on February 4, 1951 and died January 9, 1999, making her not quite 48 years old. This would mean she had Kate when she was 29, the same age Beckett was at the start of the show.
  • Yet again the number and gender of Montgomery's kids have changed. In early seasons he had a three-year-old son (1x03), and another old enough to have gone to summer camp in the Adirondacks (2x10). However, in 3x19 he says he has two daughters and one son, and as far as we can tell, there was no son in Knockout (3x24) at all, either at the house, or at the funeral, but he does say goodbye to two daughters, about 12 and 15. And then, as seen in a family photo here, he seems to have a son and a daughter, but seconds later Castle makes reference to "Evan and the girls". One possible explanation is that the boys in the early stories are all Evan (and a bit of hyperbole), who is already grown, and the young man and woman in the photo in 4x23 are him and his wife.

  • Googlemapsfail: 299 First Avenue is actually the Foreign Press Center in NYC. Not to mention that 3x23 showed Montgomery's residence to be a single-family house with lawn, which (unless he kept the millions from his bad old days and possibly not even then) is not to be found anywhere on the island of Manhattan.

  • The position of Beckett's hands on Castle's face changes several times as she kisses him in his loft and at one point there's a shot that's clearly from a reverse angle, re-reversed to put Castle and Beckett on the correct side of the frame. Though this may seem like a goof, when a fan asked about the continuity, Marta Evry (editor of that particular scene) answered that she had chosen to use a jump-cut from a different take to heighten the emotion of Castle's choice, and that "Continuity of action isn't usually important" (Marta Evry twitter). Unfortunately, a lot of people did find it quite jarring, enough that someone re-edited the scene with that clip gone. See what you think (and no, it wasn't us, I swear it.)

  • A bit of timing issues again - in 3x21 "Headhunters" Kate says it's been 7 months since Castle told her he loved her (when she was shot). Now she says it's been 11 months without a lead on her shooting and Castle kept information from her for a year. Continuity error, or are we supposed to believe 4 months have passed in 2 episodes?
