  • Castle uses the Latin phrase "Et tu?", which has been popularized as Julius Caesar's last words to his friend Brutus in the face of his assassination. It translates as "and you?" and is a popular phrase used to signify betrayal.
  • World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War is a novel by Max Brooks, written in the style of individual accounts of a 10 year zombie war. A movie of the same name and starring Brad Pitt was released June 2013. Nathan Fillion has spoken highly of the book in interviews, and has read it at least twice himself.
  • Originally called Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, Van Helsing is a character from Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, and is known for being a vampire hunter and Count Dracula's archenemy. The character has appeared in several other Dracula movies and inspired the character Gabriel van Helsing in the 2004 movie where he is a more generic monster hunter, though the plot of the movie has him specifically hunting Dracula.

Dustjackets: A Castle Wiki
  • PERLMUTTER: Ahh, our intrepid heroes ... and Castle
  • ESPOSITO: A real zombie? I'm embarrassed for you, bro.
  • CASTLE: I was doing research for a comedy about the Civil War. Turns out ... not so funny.
  • CASTLE: Being a vampire, that I understand. That's the romantic route to immortality. The gentleman's monster, as it were.
  • CASTLE: Is there a police code for "zombie on the loose"?
  • RYAN: Do you really believe in all this zombie stuff? Because I would swear on my Nana's grave that Kyle Jennings was dead.
CASTLE: No, but you know what I do believe in? Driving Beckett crazy.
  • CASTLE: When a life-altering moment occurs, people remember.
BECKETT: Well maybe it's too big to deal with. Maybe he can't face it just yet.
CASTLE: Do you think he'll ever will be?
BECKETT: Hopefully. If he feels safe.
  • BECKETT: Maybe this is what every homicide cop fears. The perfect murder.
  • CASTLE: No. This is not the perfect murder. Can't be.
    BECKETT: It happens.
CASTLE: Not to me. Not unless I've written it.
  • BECKETT: That wall I was telling you about? I think it's coming down.
CASTLE: Well, I'd like to be there when it does.
BECKETT: Yeah, I'd like you to be there, too.

  • Alexis decides the best choice of college is either Oxford or Stanford, based on classes and extracurriculars, plus they're far enough away that she wouldn't be tempted to come home regularly; the only downside is that every time she goes to secure a spot, she feels sick to her stomach. On Castle's advice she follows her heart and chooses Columbia, provided Castle can try give her space.
  • Alexis and Castle have had a running game of laser tag since she was 5 - first person to 1000 tags. They've been neck and neck, but Castle wins, just barely. Alexis challenges him to 2 out of 3.
  • Although Castle says that chaining someone to a radiator is illegal (2x17), Random in 3x03 was chained to one and now Castle and Beckett find Charlie chained to one. (It's probably why in all those instances it wasn't Castle or Beckett chaining anyone to a radiator. It was either the bad guy, or in Charlie's case, self inflicted.)
  • When Castle and Alexis discuss her college plans at the end of the episode, Castle is wearing the zombie costume minus the zombie contact lenses, but when he turns to the camera and breaks the fourth wall with his zombie laugh, he's got the contacts in.
