  • richardcastle.net is in fact a real website set up by the show.
  • Oedipus is a Greek myth, most familiar as portrayed in a play by Socrates, about a man caught up in a self fulfilling prophecy.
  • The Godfather is a 1970's movie trilogy (based on a book of the same name) about the mafia.
  • Beverly Hillbillies was an American TV show in the '60s about a backwoods family that moves to LA after striking it rich.
  • Castle's jibe about 'moose and squirrel' is a reference to the '60s animated series Rocky & Bullwinkle, which featured villains with heavy Eastern European accents.

    Dustjackets: A Castle Wiki
  • MARTHA: And by process you mean your procrastination until the very last second.
ALEXIS: And then writing out of a desperate panic in a caffeine induced haze
    MARTHA: That one?
    CASTLE: No, not that one.
  • CASTLE: He's a writer, how much trouble can he be?
  • RYAN: Assault on a city employee, parking enforcement.
    CASTLE: Doesn't count.
    MONTGOMERY: Easy.
    RYAN: Dude.
  • CASTLE: What kind of accent - Spanish, Asian, Russian?
BRIDGET: Do I look like I work at the UN? Not Brooklyn. Okay?
  • ALEXIS: Muse thievery. What's the punishment for that, five to ten years in mythology jail?
  • LEHANE: You know what I did when I wrote my first book? I shut up and wrote 23 more.
  • BECKETT: From now on, I am a one-writer girl.
  • RYAN: They were at a sporting event...of sorts...
    BECKETT: Which was?
    RYAN: Leprechaun toss. Don't ask.
  • CASTLE: Yes, fine, it's true. I'm jealous. There, I said it. I want you all to myself.
  • ESPOSITO: So, a dude can be a muse, right, bro? I mean, it's not weird or anything, is it?
    CASTLE: That's a little weird.
    BECKETT: Yeah.
  • CASTLE: Thank you.
    BECKETT: Always.
JUST THE FACTS
Go here to discuss the spec
  • Captain Montgomery has three children: two girls and a boy.
  • Castle is 'mentoring' a young writer named Alex Conrad - really all he did was give Conrad a few notes and send the book to his publisher.
  • Castle's first apartment was very run down - they used to have cockroach races.
  • The body outline notepad that Beckett uses in this episode was a present to Stana from a fan.
OOPS
  • At the end of the episode, when Ryan and Esposito are taking Conrad to Rikers to visit the prison, Ryan says laughing, "then he said, they used to do this to me for talking." It can be assumed that he was talking about his experience with Hal Lockwood from 3x13, only it is weird that Ryan says "then he said," because it was Ryan who said it in the first place. It should be "and then I said."
