  • The peanut butter song?
  • 'You have the bridge, Number One' is something Captain Picard frequently said to Commander Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

  • Beckett does grin a bit when Castle says his detective will have 'haunting good looks' but the real smile comes for 'good at her job'.
  • Ryan bottoms out with the hotel hostess and is sent off by Esposito, who seems to have already succeeded with her.
  • The onion-chopping glasses.
  • Beckett sneaking an espresso, or trying to.
  • Castle's face when he sees Beckett in the pink dress.
  • CASTLE (to Beckett): You're very good at bossing men around. I've noticed.
  • CASTLE: You're assuming that just because she's a woman, she was after a relationship. Did you ever think that she was in it just for the sex?
BECKETT: Yes, I did. And then I saw him.

Go here to discuss the spec
  • The carpet with the body was found on East 3rd St.
  • Ryan found his red couch on 54th and Lexington, so it's likely he lives around there. New Yorkers not having cars, most people don't hunt roadkill too far from their apartment -- you've got to be able to carry it home :)
  • By this point, the entire NYPD knows that Castle is basing his next series on Beckett.
  • Castle's ring tone for Martha is "Ride of the Valkyries".
  • Once again, exterior shots clearly establish Beckett's unit operating out of the 9th precinct. This time, the camera also pans up and stops on a particular lit window on the 4th floor.
  • Castle gives the team an espresso machine because the coffee tastes like 'monkey pee', but Beckett refuses to use it. (At first.)
  • Castle's proposed book titles for his new character Nikki Heat are: Summer Heat, Heat Wave, In Heat. (In fact, ABC has published Heat Wave and several more titles as a "Richard Castle" novel.)
  • Montgomery has a three-year-old son.
  • Illogical moment #1: It's taken Castle four weeks to notice the coffee tastes like monkey pee?
  • Illogical moment #2: The guy in the rug has to be at least 170 lbs. Dead weight, literally. How the hell did the two guys who snurched the rug not notice that the thing weighed a ton, and how did they actually move it? More important, why would they bother hefting something that heavy all the way home? It's not *that* nice a rug.
